Mystery intrument (solved):
  This viola appeared on eBay in 2000. In response to this post, I have received an answer from Kim Manselle of Milwaukie, Or. who identifies it as a modern Chinese "Testore model" instrument which she carries in her shop. I have later heard that Harold Golden also carries this in his Philadelphia shop.
